i am in the process of restoring a 200 elite, at the moment year unsure waiting for dating coming back. there are a number of questions. with the paint colour there appears to be a coat of red tinted lacquer over the frame gold has anyone come across this please?
Has anyone any knowledge fitting of an oil seal on the oil feed to the crank in the points case?
can some tell me the carb size as i have a 29mm one on this bike is that standard please?
has anyone fitted boyer digital ign to a single or are short on advance i believe the go to 38 deg full advance?
Thank in advance for any answers ian barker
The oil seal is a common project but unlikely to be actually needed if the the oilk pump is in good nck and unless there is discernible damage. The seals are marketed by Lacey Ducati so will come with instructions. For all things single join Ducati Club Monocilindri on Facebook and also watch the Ducati Singles Parts Market page as Pip Higham is selling off parts at the moment. Points work very well on my 160 but I place the condensor remotely as thats the part most likely to fail and if it one dat does I don’t want to be re doing the timing by the roadside. I rather expect you’ll find plenty to spend money on without going down the electronic ignition route!
thanks for your insete. some things have moved on here when i found out the bike i have was infect a 175 not a 200 after frame daring revealed this. i did some more digging and found the original motor was available and soo was acquired, so what started out has now change. yes i have been in contact with phillip as we both drag raced in the past.
Great! Good luck with the evolving project. Speaking to and knowing Pip has to be an advantage! It’s amazing how helpful people are with these bikes.
