ST2 & Keis heated grips

Hey guys, wondered if someone could offer some help?

I got some Keis heated grips courtesy of Ride magazine offer  they said they are to fit 7/8 inch bars which is what I thought the bars on the ST2 are…however after getting the old grips off & sliding on the new ones I realise this can’t be the case as the left hand bar the grip is lose & on the right bar it is VERY lose, I tried my luck by popping in lots of glue & cable tying the grips but next day the glue had set but the gap is to great so they just span round.

Don’t know if anyone else has had the same issue, just wonder if you have what you did …I thought about getting some plumbing plastic pipe at the correct diameter to slot over the bar & throttle tube, glue it then slot the grips over them (glued again) this seems a lot of work to me though to something that should be straight forward…

Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

James

All sorted

Got some 25mm heat shrink, fitted only to find out this made the bars to thick :-s so cut the sheat shrink off and smacked in a job lot of epoxy crossed my fingers I got it right as I didn’t like the thought of having to cut the heated grips off) left it over night & wey hey rock solid.

Gave them a try on the weekend and had nice roasty toasty digits …bliss

I’ve just got one for st4 left slips on easily but not much gap, not tried right yet as will have to trim throttle to get it on. What epoxy did you use?

  1. Buy the correct size grips; it helps.
  2. If grip is correct size, hairspray acts both as a lubricant to slide it on and as glue when it’s dry.
  3. I think you’ll be better off using silicone sealant than epoxy resin.
  4. You’ll probably need to cut off part of the twist grip near the switch cluster.

Enjoy!
